This is from a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon in March.

I had trouble getting good landscape shots because I didn't have filters for my Powershot A70. Alot of my images were hazy.

Critiques on this one please.

Personally i think it is a great shot! I like the way the ground is so crisp and the canyon is hazy but still good detail.

I like it, except for the haze as you said yourself.
Perhaps playing a bit with the levels could add a bit more contrast in the background part, the foreground part seems good to me...

Did some photoshopping on it. Thoughts?

You may have to hit refresh to get the proper images to load. (Due to my naming scheme.)

I had been under the impression that PS Elements 2.0 couldn't do anything with layer masks. I guess it can do masks linked to adjustment and fill layers. Good thing cuase that's what I needed to improve that shot.

Drbeagle,

Great photo of the Grand Canyon. Your PS enhancement improves the image.

Years ago (~ 1980), I hiked the canyon with my Pentax Spotmatic and took a few rolls of Kodacolor photos, but none came out as good as what you got here. Sad to report, the colors on my color prints have faded over the years, making them look even less spectacular. :( I have no idea where the negatives are. I suspect they have faded too.

It's time for me to hike the canyon again, this time with my trusty Canon Pro 1. Thanks for providing me with the incentive.

The Canyon is one of the most spectacular places I've ever backpacked. Once you are inside, you can't even tell its a canyon. You could just be inside of very rock moutains. Its amazing terrain.

I've been fortunate enough to have backpacked in the Canyon 3 times with my scout troop and have taken a total of 6 trails from river to rim (or vice-versa).

I hope you get back soon,
David
