Took this during lunch break, sun was high, so light wasn't best.
The wood is part of some small wooden bridge.

Bring the critics...

What do you think?
Is the crop good? (look at original (http://ikinaa.e-lentz.net/bf_yf_o.jpg) if you have another idea of a crop...)

The picture was taken with an IXUS300.
It was cropped and resized, nothing else done.

I like the crop, but the wood behind the butterfly ruins the shot. Its just too camoflauged (spelling?).

Maybe if you can avoid that wood.

I like the idea of the flowers taking up most of the frame with the bug off in one corner. Good idea, bad bridge.

Thanks,

there were a lot of the same flowers around the bridge, without the bridge being in view, but unfortunately the butterfly preferred this one

lol, I understand.

It looks like you could have avoided the wood by bringing the camera down to buttereye level so that at least the butterfly would be oulined by green blur. The wood would still be in the shot, but not behind the brown butterfly.

But then again, I've never tried to shoot a flying bug, so I doubt I can imagine the half of how difficult it is.

The most difficult is to aim... sun at its highest, try aiming through the lcd-screen of the digital compact cam. I thought myself lucky to have the butterfly on the pic...

I just looked at what camera you used. No wonder, I've never tried to do much bug photography with my A70 cause it just seems like too much work.

I bet the 300 is about the same.
