well, going to go camping on saturday @ silverwood lake in the san bernardino mountains (CA). lows in the mid 60s, highs in the mid 90s (96). beside the heat and the mosquitos (w/ possibility of West Nile Virus---greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaat)... i plan on shooting most of everything w/ 2-day old tamron 28-75. although, i'll have the kit lens and the nifty fifty in the bag (canon accessory kit from bestbuy).

any tips (and/or tricks) that i should keep in mind when shooting away in the hot weather, near a friggin a lake, etc etc you know, camping ^^ ???

TIA. just worried about my babies =p

The camera will be fine.Take normal care + abit and there's nothing to worry about.

Just don't get carried away with your friends and do silly things 'because wouldn't it be cool'    (see link below)

I shoot at 100+ temps all the time, so there is nothing to worry about. Drink lots of water though.

Regarding the link, this thing happens all the time here. Sometimes when trying to put a boat in the sea, both the boat and car slip to the water.

Use lots of sun-blocker (SPF 50 or better), but not on your camera.

I think that there is a story here that _needs_ to be told ;-)

Make sure you have spare battery(s) and CFs. You don't want to cut the testing short because you ran dry.

On July 22, the temperature at Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park was F 122.

That would test many cameras, even if the photographer could survive.

That is definitely out of my normal operating range!

Oh,by the way

the first sign of engine problems was oil smoke from the exaust.Basically it was going great but the back pressure was abit too much or for too long which ruined the rings.Everything else was fine :?
Just afterwards i helped them checkout the damage.Removed the injectors and got them to turn it over in case any water was in there...
the underside of the hood (and us) got covered in black oil

I just came back from getting Chines food. It was 111 degrees at 7:00pm. At times like this, the issue really isn't how much the camera can take, is it?

Oh, 111 isn't bad. It's a dry heat, isn't it?

At those kinds of temperatures, the LCD on the back of a camera starts acting up.

Here it's not a surprise if it's 100+ at midnight. Talk about a furnace.

Heard it's the hottest inhabited place in the world.

piku, I'm mad at you now.

You have no idea at what temp I was shooting at. I almost fainted from the heat.

Really, drink a lot of water man! that's the only advice I can give.
