Wasn't Pembrey meant to have money spent on it? Anyway, onto the photos, taken using my trusty 10D and 100-300 combo. C&C welcomed!

Thank you so much for the comment! :)

It was quite disheartening not to get any!

I agree, your panning is very good. My favorites are #5 & 6.

I don't know how I missed these when you first posted them.

I was actually looking thru your threads to find the picture that you've got in your avatar - it looks cool :)

Your images are great for the crummy conditions (light fog, clouds, etc) but I bet if you run them through photoshop / lightroom / iphoto and bump up the contrast / sharpness, many of these would be *great* images with that "pop" that makes people say wow. If you really feel like doing some PP work, creative use of the dodge/burn tool could also really enhance some of these photos!

but in all honesty, since I live in the middle of the USA, where the only "motorsport" is NASCAR, thanks a ton for sharing your images. I can only dream of being able to photograph an event like that!

Yup, that's it Baldone. Had the misted up filter on for that shot, the trick to keep my gear alive was to rush back to my Dad's car parked by Druids and leave it in front of the heaters. It was literally an uphill struggle to do that at Pembrey though:

Everyone got frontrow seats, if you sat in the front of the car of course ;)

Excellent shots! 2, 5, 12 and 14 are my favourites. Haven't been to Pembrey for years, but it's a great circuit. Always nice to get over to Wales too. Nice part of the world.

Some well executed shots and you've caught some good action, well done.

As to Pembrey, it's a disgrace. The BARC should be ashamed of the state of that circuit as it is quite the worst in the country. However, I notice they are also running down Thruxton and Mallory Park so perhaps it won't be the worst any more?

Good pictures, you cant do much about the weather.

I hope you don't mind, I was just experimenting with some color editing in photoshop. Here is what I came up with. Do you think it looks good? Or is over processed? I can't decide.

I quite like the atmosphere of the lower budget-type circuits and venues. Brands Hatch was spoiled when the corporate hospitality eyesores started appearing. Mallory Park was my favourite circuit, but they've made an unmitigated mess of the place with all those track alterations. Looks like it was designed by Health & Safelty and overseen by Mr Blobby.

RobsPics, maybe half-way between that one and the original for the colour saturation.

You really haven't been to Pembrey recently have you? The outfield toilet block is a portacabin where the door flaps wide open. There's are birds nests on top of the cisterns and the waste paper bin is an old biological hazardous waste container with the top cut off. It hasn't been cleaned in years. Oh... and that's probably the circuits BEST feature. Often you can't even see the track due to the three foot high bushes and grass growing on top of the tyre wall. The approach roads are so bad that I have to weave on the way in to avoid ripping the splitter off the front of my car in the pot holes...

Underdeveloped charm... fair enough but I am afraid Pembrey is in the unsanitary and neglected category. It's claim to be the "Welsh National Motorsport Centre" does no credit to Wales or the BARC.

Haha no! I haven't been there for years! :-D Apart from the undergrowth obscuring the view I can live with most of the other stuff! I'm used to Long Marston (Shakespeare County Raceway) and from your latest Pembrey description I think things are pretty comparable! :-D

I'm totally with Cadwell with this one! Infact, the only toilet when I went was on the infield, and so you had to wait for a race to end before you could go, and then the next race would start and you'd be stuck on the infield. It is just dire. And, not only is it the home of Welsh Motorsport, I heard millions were meant to be spent on it, making it the 'Millenium staduim of racing circuits'

It's crazy to think I saw British F3 there when I was a kid, and that it even hosted BTCC! As for underdeveloped charm, Castle Combe is very nice. Just a shame about the damned residents! :P

Yes, Castle Combe is a nice circuit. I was up there last on Rally Day 2006, on which it rained until the standing water was up to about waist level!
