Hi everyone,

I have been experimenting with my A710 shooting modes. I was recommended to play with the AV/TV modes for better results rather than just use the AUTO setting. It seems that I can either use either the AV or the TV mode for shooting, but do they affect each other? Or when the camera is on the AV mode it doesn't matter what the TV setting is? Or do they react to each other? Can I also use the M mode by combining the both of them, AV/TV, or that is actually the way it should be, meaning I make may AV/TV selections and then set the camera on the Manual mode to use a combined setting? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much

Hi falco57!

I shoot almost always in AV mode. When in this mode, you choose the apeture and the camera chooses the shutter speed. Vice Versa when shooting in Tv mode, you choose the shutter speed, and the camera chooses the apeture.

Take a look at the safety shift feature in the menu (I think the A710IS has this feature). If the camera thinks the photo will be over or under exposed, it will step up or step down the apeture to help.
