Were these from Friday or Saturday? I'd eb interested in knowing how you processed these so the planes had some detail...

Wow, nice shots, i take it you were on the Main event side instead of centennial park.

I only went on Saturday. On the South side. The light was pretty bad. So I shot to the right as much as possible sometimes clipping a little on the specular highlights.

Then using LR i adujsted the exposure down about a stop. Bumped up the blacks for more contrast without darkening the colors so much. a bit a fill light , which works great when using the expose to the right . Adjusted the tone curve a bit.

#5 Is a composite of two raw outputs of the same pushed exposure.

I shot mostly in Manual overexposing by about a stop, with a 1D Mark III and a 300 2.8.

Thanks . I was on the Main event side. I thought about doing the park but with the cityscape I figured the main event would provide better photos. But I didn't think about the bad light

Wow, good processing on #5. I was over on Centennial Park for Saturday's event and although the light was better, I think the Embarcadero had an overall better vantage point of the event. I've got a lot of good close-ups of the bottom of the planes, but that does me no good. Hopefully soon I'll get time to process some of my shots to share on POTN.

I like that even the seagulls got into the spirit of the races...
