These are for Gayle.....I am no expert and just starting to shoot hummingbirds. As I said I get real close to them and stay still. There are alot of shots better than these out there and I would love to see some of them. Just wanted to show you some flying shots with the natural plants. They're not real sharp, but I will keep trying....steve

Steve-
these are nice shots! You have nothing to apologize for. I would be proud to include them in my portfolio. Best,

Very nice shots. I really like number 2. And I really like the very pretty flower. It's much nicer than a feeder.

I think you're too hard on yourself. What's not to like with these shots? I'd be over the moon, myself.

Thanks Steve, these pictures are beautiful. Hopefully the Hummingbirds stick around a little longer so I can get more practice. Tonight I'm going to set a chair out near the feeder so that the birds will be used to seeing it.

What lens / shutter speed / aperature / ISO are you using for these shots?

These are very well done. To me the flowers really add to the shots. I'm glad you are going to keep trying. Then we should see some spectacular shots!

Very nice shots of this little beauty in a lovely setting! I especially like the 2nd with the nice b/g and the eye showing so clearly.:)

Gayle, I shot these with the xti, and the 70-300mm IS or my 70-200mm 2.8 IS with the 1.4 ex. I used the sport mode on the little buggers. When I shoot them sitting, I use AV, and 5.6. Seems to work out O.K. steve , Oh and the iso is 200.

Great shots, thanks for sharing. What was your shutter speed, seems to need a little faster shutter to stop the wing speed. Also, bodies may be sharper due to body movement. These buggers move soooooo! fast!

Excellent shots Steve. Never seen a hummer work over a thistle before though. :)
