i have windows vista, and for the life of me i cant get rid of cs3 ( i did one of those trial things).

will i have to uninstall elements 5.0 before i can get that gone?

i know it sounds silly, but i tried it to see if its right for me. and its really just too much of a program for me considering my limited knowledge of PP.

any advice would be appreciated.
thanks in advance.

shannyD-your going to kick yourself.

Lower left corner, open Start>open Help and support, type uninstall and it will walk you thru it.

But your not done. There are deeper parts. After the above is done, open start again and type "adobe photoshop CS3" in the white area in the lower left space and hit enter. This will bring up any residual files that "uninstall" missed. Delete each and all of them.

I've done it to many times to count. There are probably other techniques though. Don't know about the Elements part.

you have to use the install disk. there is an uninstall option.

She said it was a trial version. I would imagine it was a download and she wouldn't have the disc.

On the first time that you uninstalled the program, did you go to the Control Panel and use the "Install/Uninstall" software tool or did you just delete files manually? If you did the latter, you may be in deep yogurt.

Reinstall it, then uninstall it. If you just delete the program folder manually you don't really uninstall it.

And yes, we'd need to know the exact error message.

go to the website and search for uninstall CS3. Its got known uninstall technical issues . There are certain elements in the computers inner workings that dont go away for many .

Why not just leave it on there and ignore it?

Kinda typical Adobe _ I had to reformat my HD to get CS3 back working after the first install I did quit working. No fix from Adobe either.

I had this trouble with cs3 (but I use mac) someone told me that adobe had a program on their site cs3clean that removed the rest of it. For some reason, adobe leaves pieces of cs3 all through your system, even with the uninstall. I looked and there's a windows version too:

http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html

It worked for me to get it all out. Hope it works for you (like I said, I'm on mac so I've never tried the windows version)

because it pops up automatically when i plug my cf card into my computer, and then it takes forever to close out of that. and the other thing is.. there are some plug ins that i would like to use that are fine with elements 5.0 but cs3 automatically comes up, and wont let me open it through elements because cs3 is there.. i realize that it is a great program. but too much of a program for the kind of stuff that i like to do.

thanks all. :)

Does the error message refer to "ADOBE LM". If so go to administrative tools in control panel if you don't see it then selectclassic view on right side. select service. then scroll down to Adobe LM. Double click and see if the service is started if not then start the service. If this is not the case then. Reboot and try to uninstall in safemode.

This tool works with Vista. I've used it successfully. Follow the directions with the tool and you should be all set. If you still can't uninstall, then something has been either modified on your system, or you are not an administrator on your machine.

my buddy had a hell of a time removing CS3 from my XP machine when he installed a new hard drive and reinstalled my OS.

i was thinking about this thread and i asked him what he did. this is all greek to me but this is what he said:

Adobe released a prog to clean up all the bets's leaving supposedly but it didn't work for me so I replaced the main executable and it looks goooooood.

* drooling on myself* im still so lost on this. i filed a case with adobe. and when they gave me a case number, and a phone number. they couldnt even get it off no matter what they tried walking me through. and what a great program it is.. but just too much of a program for me. i wanted to see what all the noise was about, and i found out.. awesome program.

but a pain in the arse to remove from vista as well. i really dont want to pay someone to take it off of my computer.

lol.. any hackers out there who can get it off hit me up. lol.

thanks to everyone who has posted in trying to help me out with this incredibly annoying problem, i really do appreciate everyones help.

man ...we should circulate a petition to have adobe give you a free copy of CS3 since you can't remove the beta from your machine.

my buddy jason could do it but we're in san jose :D!
