What a bunch of knowledgeable and NICE people

You rarely find this these days, where you can find a can belong to an online community and there is so much wealth spread and people are so nice. Unfortunately many forums are the exact opposite and people are more about putting people down and thread crapping.

Hi, I'm Jon. Really new to photography. Purchased a 300D in the beginning of June, with a Canon 80-200mm, recently picked up 2 spare batteries, a Lowepro Nova 4 and a Lowpro top loader. On deck is a grip, 50mm 1.8, 420ex, and a tri-pod, hoods, filters...

Yet I have only posted 1 post besides this one, but I would have posted more but I searched the forum and kept finding the answers to my questions! :)

I am only a beginner at photography but I know I will learn so much from everyone here.

Round of applause for everyone who contributes here, you all deserve it and you are what makes this forum what it is!

Yep it is nice here and sometimes i wonder why....as you say,most other forums are just terrible. :shock:
I do have a few theories why this one works so well but they're probably interesting enough to mention right now.

I'm not surprised in the at how bad dpreview gets !!Just wading through a single thread can take all night :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :evil:

Welcome to the forum of 'good guys & gals'. I just joined today after reading the posts for a couple of months. We all have questions about something if we're not afraid to ask and these people like to share their knowledge to enlighten us.
The head honcho, Pekka, who is a top notch photographer, and the other moderators, steer this community of professionals and amateurs for the good of this hobby that keeps us busy.

Perhaps the very 'niceness' of this forum puts off those who spoil other forums with their over active ego's. We all seem to be here to learn and share knowledge with others in a way we can all take something away from the experience. Trying to score points against other forum members has no part in that process IMHO.

Hi Jon, Welcome :D

I am also new, not only to digital photography, but to this site that I came across accidently while looking at Canon Digital cameras on the Canon USA site.

These are some nice folks and you will find out, extremely knowledgable.

I have really learned a lot in a short period of time just reading the different topics on this forum and like you, found answers without having to ask.

I can't wait to learn how to operate my 10D and produce great panoramas so I can share something with all of these folks that have helped me so much.
