hello, im a newbie here and learning more than i thought from this site. i just bought an XTI and was wondering which lenses would be best for doing wedding photography. i am shadowing a friend who does weddings. i am more or less his gopher. He wants me to take pics that i "see" would be good from someone elses point of view. i've read on here the 24-70 and the 70-200isL as the best choices. would these lenses do good on the XTI? or do you recommend others for this camera? i know people are going to say abetter camera but for now its me and my XTI.

The Wedding Forum FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=255604) has plenty of info :)

I'm not at all familiar with the Tamron but the kit lens can produce nice results when stopped down. I would recommend adding a fast prime at some point for low light shooting. You don't have to spend a lot.

Both the 24-70 and the 70-200 are top notch, but I'd recommend small steps first. I got so much more enjoyment out of photography when I learned how to get the images I wanted out of the equipment I have. Take your time and enjoy getting the most out of the gear you have.
