i was in a camera shop my mate noes these guys good so the price on shelf 975 and he said he would do it for 800 it has no lense or memory card this is in austalia
memory card then 100 dollars for a 256 card and a s##t 28 80 for 75 total 975 but it's only 3 megapexies a 300d would be much better?? for 1599 with lense seeing thats new i'm in australia]
so if that cost me 975 and the 300d i can get brand new for 1599 what should i do ?????

Well, eventhough your mate noes this guy, he still gave what one would call a rip-off price. If we're talking US$, which I doubt.

i owned a d30 myself and i dont think i will swap it for a 300D even though it's newer and techincally more advanced. i would actually go for a 10D instead.
anyway, i still prefer the flexibilities/functions offered by the D30 over the more 'automated' 300D.
the bottom line is what's your shooting style like?
back to the prices... i think it's fairly expensive but hey... everything in Australia is expensive, isnt it? ;-p
try checking out eBay.com.au and i think you'll probably get a better deal.
you can easily print up to A4 with 3 megapixels on the D30. 6 megapixles is nice to have but do you need that much? what sort of prints do you usually like? 4 x 6?so dont pay for the extra megapixels you dont use. it's nice to have and provided you're willing to pay for it as well. ;-p
cheers!

975 is a bit on the high side and 800 is fair. i think that's about the market rate now for a 2nd hand D30 in australia? it also depends on the conditions of the camera.

I would ask what guarantee the shop is offering on S/H goods, which is one advantage you should have.
975 australian dollars = 691.76 US dollars & 377.41 British Pound
On our ebay here in the UK there is just 1 selling for £350:00 with Canon Zoom EF 28 – 80mm lens, its got 5 days to go so chance it will go higher.
