I was just looking at muchswatch's shots that he took with his new lens and they look pretty good. Does anyone else have some pictures posted with the 70-300 Do lens?

I'm interested in making it my walk-around lens and particularly for concerts held outdoors because of the IS function. Setting up my 70-200 f/2.8L with a monopod isn't an option most times. One of my concerns so far is when it gets dark and the stagelights are behind the performers, which adds to effect in most shots, will there be any extra ghosting of the bright lights due to the way this lens is made? Has anyone taken this type of shots yet. I'd like to hear some more comments with the + or - of this lens.
Thanks in advance,

Many of the shots in my galleries at http://jesper.fotopic.net (since "29/05/2004 New York") are with the 70-300 DO, but I've not marked the shots (all the tele shots are with the 70-300 DO on my 10D), all of them are edited in Photoshop and I don't have 100% crops in there. All of these zoo animal photos (http://jesper.fotopic.net/c209716.html) are with the 70-300 DO. It might give you an idea of what you can do with this lens.

I like it a lot, it's small and inconspicuous and good optical quality and the IS is really good (better than the IS on my 28-135). I wouldn't recommend the 70-300 DO for low-light with a monopod though, one of the disadvantages is that it's slow, f/4.5-5.6. Not good for low-light concert photography, you'll want f/2.8 or faster for that, otherwise it's impossible to freeze the action of the performers.

Wow Jesper! Your albums with the 70-300 DO have some awesome shots in them. Thanks for linking this post to them for me. I think the lens will do me just fine. It should be OK for the concerts too because at least half of the concerts are during daylight hours. When it gets dark the spotlights do well and my flash usually fills in enough. I'll probably decide by the end of this week if I want to go on the peanut butter & jelly diet to afford the lens... Heck, I could use to loose a few pounds anyway. :P

Thanks for the input,
