I finally got a chance to take a bunch of photos of my son's baseball team (I'm usually coaching, but this was all-stars, different staff). A solid tournament weekend yielded over 500 pictures, coulda easily done more, but I only have 1 512mb card, so my per day take was capped.
Anyways, I'm trying to make baseball cards for the kids, like the real photographers do, and I'd like some advice.
First, here's my 3rd draft composition of the card:

Second, what do "they" normally print these on? (Paper, printer, etc.)
Third, anyone have any sage advice on this type of thing, or other ideas?
Thanks for looking...

Imagine if Billy Ellis becomes the next Micky Mantle? What would this card be worth?

I don't know if I could fabricate 5 years worth of stats to put on the back.
I think the next generation of MLB stars will have cards from when they were kids. Every photo package has them included, cheesey PS textures and all.

I would give some thought to having a yellow band at the top and bottom of the card (within the narrow yellow frame) where you could put the team name and player name (top and bottom respectively).
This would allow for card consistency and not have the problems of the team name fading into the background as has started in your example.
Also, assuming that you are trying to have the team name and player name in the team colors, you should either adjust the frame and text colors to match the uniform, or adjust the image so that the colors are closer.

Do a search for bb card templates and you will find some you can purchase. Might give you some ideas to create something yourself.

I thought the yellow outline on the letters would help them stand out, but you're right it isn't all that easy to see.
I originally tried using the eyedropper to get the colors the same. I kept the blue, but the yellow is too orange. I'm sticking with what the team colors are supposed to be.
The good news is that the more I tweak the design, the more I learn about photoshop.
I'm searching all over the interweb, only found one sample for sale. Not that I would buy anything, but I think I have another idea I need to try out.
Thanks for the replies.

In many hobbies and sports, there are trading cards. For example, a buddy has a vintage race car that he races and shows, so he needed some trading cards to hand out to people. Naturally, I did the digital image work and composed it. He needed a 300 dpi TIF file that he sent to a printing company that specializes in trading cards, and they do print lots of 500 or 1000.
