View Full Version : Polarizer ?

I thought rather than purchase a bunch of different size polarizers I would get an over sized one and step ring to adapt to my lens. If I get a polarizer in 72mm, a step ring from 58mm to 72mm and a step ring from 67mm to 72mm that would take care of my Rebel kit lens and my 70-200 L4. But then I won't be able to use to lens hood that came with my Canon 70-200. 72mm should work for any new lenses other than a real wide angle one. Any thoughts on this matter?

Doesn't your lens hood have threads on the outside?

Canon uses a couple different styles of lens hoods, but the most common is a bayonet-type mount that fits on the end of the lens. It does not interfere with the installation of filters. I don't believe they use any threaded lens hoods --- at least I've never come across one on the lenses I own.

The Canon 70-200 F 4L zoom has a lug style locking system. The larger filter won't allow the shade to pass over to lock in.
