Hi dear friends,
my girlfriend and I went for a trip to victoria couple weeks ago and had nice picutres over there. since I was filling my CF card everyday, I burnend most of them on CDs. the card is a "lexar 512 MB pro 40x". last ones were still in the card and !!!!! somehow I could not find them : the card looks umpty  (I might have accidently erased them)
then I remembered the software for pictures recovery that came with the card, and launched it:
first I was so happy that most of fmy pictures were recovered, but then opening them !!!! small tiny pictures with 1x2 " print size!
I shoot raw with small JPEG embedded. problem is that the pictures size shows about 5 MB but the pict is not that big at all.
any experience with that fellas?
your help or solution is extreemly appreciated

regards

Khalid

You may have fallen into the trap that lots of beginners find.

The print size of an image has little to do with the pixel size of the image, and they are related by the dpi number, which is arbitrary. Normally, the dpi number gets placed on the image by the camera, but it can be changed in the editor program. If something happened to corrupt the header information of files, then it would get even more confusing.

Are you reading the card with a card reader or with the camera.
I had a problem reading my card with a card reader and I almost
formatted it but then I tried reading it with the camera and all the
pics were there, I had to use the USB port to get them but boy was
I HAPPY !

What file extention did your recovery program give them?

Since there is an embeded JPG file in RAW files a JPG extention would make programs think they were just JPGs.

So you might just need to change the extention to indicate that they are RAW.
