A mate of mine suggested that I submit one of my images for an online competiton. The prize is a weeked at a European Grand Prix. I logged in and was read to post when I read the terms and conditions:
Entrants agree that, in relation to any photographs selected as winning photographs, they grant Panasonic Marketing Europe GmbH and Matsu****a Electric companies and other members of the Panasonic Group an exclusive licence to use images for 5 years for no charge for their marketing and promotional activities.
Doesn't seem like a good deal to me considering the prize valus is maybe less than 1000 quid.

Lets see,, If you win the pic is worth something,,(The prize), If you don't win It may or may not be worth anything.... What you got to loose. Plus if you win and they use your pic, I am sure you will get credit even though no further $$$ but its good advertisement...
Just my thoughts :D

Just shoot as generic a winner photo as possible so that they will want to use it AFTER 5 years and you can name the price. :)
Seriously I would not enter a competition with such rules.

Well my problem is, if you win the prise it is only worth $1000 (at most). Would you give someone the exclusive right to use one of your pics for 5 years for $1000?

I've seen this kind of thing before. Pretty typical for large corporations I'd say. Remember, there's no free lunch. I'd be happy to take the grand and be done with it. Of course, you folks might be selling images for more than a thousand a pop :o in which case....
