Hi All,

I am going to help a friend's brother to shoot a wedding in Oct, and with some background information in reference to this thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=368211

The only thing that has changed is that, I don't have my second shooter anymore. I am going to be running the show myself, with my XTi /w 17-55IS, 70-200F4IS, a borrowed 5D, 50L, 85L, 135L, and of course flashes.

Now, if you did follow the last thread, this will be the very first wedding (or any sort of shooting as a matter of fact), that I am doing. I got two questions:
1) We are meeting up tomorrow for our first meeting, is there any topics in particular that we must touch base on? I don't want to miss anything
2) Since it's my first time, I did not have a portfolio to show. The bride is asking me to "proof" myself to them, which I am not sure of how I can do that. The wedding is in Montreal (that's right, i am going up there to help them from Toronto), and they are coming down to have some business taken care of, and therefore we are able to meet. They are going to be staying at a hotel. Would it be a good idea to have some shootings done there as well?

Thanks for any advices in advance!
Chris

1) Ask them what they want. Work out prices. Get to know them a bit.
2) She chose you, maybe they need to qualify themselves as your customers. Take a decent photo of them and send them a print.

They will use you for "you".......sell them on you and your ability to capture their special day. Once they buy you........they will pay you for all of your needs. If you do not sell them on "you" ---they it could be an uphill battle.
You will be fine.....relax and be confident in your skills.

The price that i am charging them is really of the minimal which is least of my concern, as afterall it's my first wedding shooting anyways.

We will be heading to the hotel tonight to take a few shots, and also have my macbook handy to show them on the spot.

For on the spot pic, I think you should just show them the pics in your camera display. I don't see why you want to show them unprocessed pic on your laptop straight away, especially if you are shooting in a room. White balance and not-so-vibrant color can make a great picture become ok.

Many of my clients expect to see images like they see in wedding website (which I think almost all of them already processed - white balance and color saturated at least). They think all the effect and color come straight from your camera.

I showed my clients picture on the spot on wedding day, but just in my camera display. An I have setting the color perimeter on my camera, so the color is better saturated than the factory default.

Maybe you could show some pics that you took before on your mac.

Just my personal preference.

You obviously dont use lightroom and or showit software :)

I play a slideshow at the reception of the photos taken earlier in the day, with some image adjustments that are super simple click boom great!

Lightroom is well worth it, my pics hardly ever touch photoshop except for special effects!
