View Full Version : Canon D60 shutter died?

My Canon D60 shutter just quit working. The mirror is working but the shutter curtain never moves.

Everything else is working like it's supposed to, it's just writing solid black images to the cf card.

I've tried multiple lens, cf cards, batteries, shutter speeds, different size jpgs and RAW, different operating modes...all I can think of.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Just got D60 back from Canon (Factory Service Center - New Jersey).

I sent via FedEx last Monday, got email from them Wednesday. I called and authorized repair and charged to my credit card. Received camera today (Tuesday).

The shutter was replaced, inspected CMOS, balanced adjusted and cleaned.

Six month warranty of repeat failure of same thing.

Total cost:$185.35

My 300D shutter went bad. Had to send it in for service. Luckily mine was under warranty.

What can we say, bad luck mate. Canon are usually reliable but nothing in this world is indestructible.
