I'm a newbie at photgraphy looking to spend £350-400 on a good camera that I won't have to replace for a long long time. Been looking at the s60 and it seems like a rather good camera, just mildly concerned about it using compact flash rather than sd as I've been told its an older storage medium. Any thoughts on the camera? Or would I be better off with a Ixus 430?

With the esablished user base of the compact flash (CF), you don't have to worry about becoming an orphan anytime soon.

If I had my 'druthers (and I do), I wouldn't use SD media in any camera where I expected to fill up the media during a day's shooting. Especially if I was wearing gloves, or had cold hands, or for any other reason was concerned that my digital dexterity (we're talking fingers here, not pixels) was sub-par or the risk of dropping was significant. CF Forever!!!

I would recommend the A70 (if you can find one) or the A75 over the A60. The A60 is only 2 megapixels. I really think you need at least 3 megapixels if you intend to do any picture editing.

Lol, he said S60, not A60. Of course, maybe he meant A60. Although not for the price he mentioned (I hope :D ).

Yeah I meant S60 because it has a high megapixel count either that or the Ixus 500 because my friend said Canon are the best brand. Was also looking at the Fuji F710 with widescreen shooting because it does 6 megapixel but is cheaper than the S60. But it confuses me when it says 2x3megapixel on the advertising so is it 6 megapixel or not? :o
