I was just wondering if any of you use the photobox.co.uk Pro Galleries feature? I currently use them for my printing, but not their galleries.

Your thoughts?

Thanks,

Sam

We use them.

We use photobox for our box of proofs that we give to every client and then we make them live and available for their family and friends to order from as well. We dont charge massive amounts for our prints because photbox fulfill the orders for us and we prerfer to charge up front for our time and give clients access to their photos at a reasonable cost and so far its worked well for us. We started last July with our first freebie wedding and we will shoot 20 this year and already have bookings for over 20 next year.

Weve sold over 1000 photos through photobox this year.

Great to hear that, just the kind of feedback I was after!

I too agree with not charging massive amounts, otherwise they are just going to buy one set and copy them, its a fact of life unfortunately.

Thanks Banbert!

They offer a basic service for getting your images online and selling prints, but for a more professional approach try The Image File - www.theimagefile.co.uk - Trial is only £1 so you have nothing really to lose.

I have nothing to do with them other than being a happy customer. See my website for how it simply integrates with password box. www.chrischambersphotography.co.uk ( Enter williams as a password to see a live gallery of photos).

We use photobox for all our printing, including pro galleries for our clients and their guests. We are very happy with their quality and service. We do not charge much for printing for the same reasons as Banbert. I would advise that you need to work out prices and test them on photobox to work out your return. We made this costly mistake when we fisrt used them and photobox profited from about 50% of our customers spending!! We are currently exploring Jalbum which cuts out photobox pro gallery % revenues as we process orders ourselves and print at photobox cost. Hope this helps.

They are completely different services from what I can see and saying photobox is basic whereas the other is more professional is a bit misleading tbh. Photobox does the hosting, selling, printing and delivery to our clients ... so once we have uploaded photos to it we dont have to do anything when our clients buy photos except sit back and earn a commission.

That site you have posted just looks like a gallery and sales systems, no fullfilment unless someone wants to download a digital copy of the file so I am guessing on the back end you recieve an order and then have to fullfill the sale yourself, sounds like a whole load more work to me and for what they charge I can see ways of doing it cheaper in the same way they are suggesting.

If at some point I can justify the extra cost I would go for something like thirdlights (http://www.thirdlight.com/) system where its a fully integrated gallery and fulfillment system, so same as photobox (photobox actually do the fulfillment for them) but a lot prettier looking and properly integrated with our site. Or maybe at some point in the future Pictage will come to the UK :)

For me, when it comes to the interweb, simple is good!

The good thing with the Imagefile is that you can upload the high res files and they will fulfil the order for you (via Photobox!). I just think the whole thing gives a more professional approach and appearance.

Colorworld Imaging offer a similar service with free upload and hosting of images. The pinting costs are higher than photobox but it looks to be a good service.

Cheers for that info Chrisc, their package is a lot easier to understand now that you have explained that and its definitely cheaper than the Thirdlight option.

You have some really nice stuff on your website, tons of great images.

Realised as I was browsing around your site that you come from my home town of Castleford, was great to look through your galleries and see some very familiar places, my parents still live up there and I manage to make it back up there a few times a year but never as often as I would like to. Is it your home town? , if so were you Cas High or Airedale High ? :)
