Here are a few random pictures from our last wedding. Your feedback and honest critique is highly encouraged.

My apologies for the watermark, once again.

5. Walking in downtown Ottawa. Yes, the bride wears my coat, she has more fashion sense than that! The poor girl was freezing throughout the formals.

I love #2---good job. I have never done an Indian wedding. I have done indian parties and love all the color----would love to capture all of the wedding wedding party colors.

Great Sebastien!

1. I like this detail shot. Nice DOF. It seems a TAD bit underexposed though maybe ...

2. Very nice.

3. Wow this is really cool - the shot is great, and what they do, that's awesome! I hope you have a tighter one as well?

4. Nice shot, I'm not a fan of the processing on it though, it looks very old-school. Maybe that's what you were going for though.

5. Neat snap! Look at the clouds - did you flash them like crazy?

6. Great shot if I knew the context - mind explaining?

7. AWESOME first dance shot! Well done, I love this!

8. Great shot, again, don't like the PP on it though ...

True, thanks for noticing!

2. Very nice.

Thanks!

3. Wow this is really cool - the shot is great, and what they do, that's awesome! I hope you have a tighter one as well?

Yes, we have about a dozen of the "walking down the aisle".

4. Nice shot, I'm not a fan of the processing on it though, it looks very old-school. Maybe that's what you were going for though.

I kinda liked this style... but thanks for your honest input!

5. Neat snap! Look at the clouds - did you flash them like crazy?

Only natural lighting on this one! The sun (which was in my back) was setting, peaking through the clouds and the lighting was simply amazing!

6. Great shot if I knew the context - mind explaining?

As I state in the post: the bride, preparing for her speech, is feeling a bit nervous. She's rehearsing her speech, which was a bit emotional for her as she lost her father and brother not too long ago.

7. AWESOME first dance shot! Well done, I love this!

Thanks! Glad you like it!

8. Great shot, again, don't like the PP on it though ...

Thanks, when we're in Albany, we have to sit down so that you can tutor me on your black and white conversion! ;)

I really like 1and 2. I am not sure about some of the pp. Some look a bit overdone to my liking. Very nice group of pics!

Thank you for your input. Would you care to comment a bit more on the PP that looks overdone? I'd like to know which picture(s) you are referring to, so I can may be tone it down a little :)

Thanks Nick! My wife and I work as a team. And she did all the PP for my recent weddings :D

Very nice work...

Thanks James!

excellent work Sebastian.

I predominantly shoot asian weddings, and colour is very important, which you have captured in the Brides reds and blue's, in each of her outfits.

If i could offer some opinion about a few of the pictures they would be:
1. a slightly steeper angle over the hands showing off more of the mehndi pattern, possibly reducing the shallow DOF.
2. in PP remove some of the loose hairs which are visible over the background (otherwise this is a brilliant shot)
6. fantastic photo, i love it!
8. in PP try and enhance the Mehndi art on the brides hands... i'm sure she would love for these to be visible (after all alot of time and effort went into it)

(I know i'm pretty new to this forum so please don't take any of my comments as offensive, they are not intended in that way)

Overall brilliant, and I wish we saw more asian weddings on this forum :)

Very well done. Really convey the gorgeous colors. My only nitpik is with #4. They really don't seem to stand out from the background, maybe a larger aperature would have provided more seperation. Is the bride in burgundy or blue? (both are beautiful)

For #1, I have many angles and different mehndis for #1. I kinda like the shallow DOF in this one, hence my selecting it to post here. But I appreciate the comment and feedback!

For #2, I haven't done any cloning on these proofs. I will certainly look at each photograph individually when the B&G make their selection for their album. But thanks for pointing that out, I'll make sure to take care of it!

For #8, I'll do my best to enhance the mehndi art on her hands. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm not offended in any way! I really appreciate the feedback as I know there are many areas where I can improve! And everyone has an opinion and I welcome all of them (even if I disagree! :p).

That's true. The PP doesn't help either. I should probably keep that shot in color as they really stand out in the color version!

The bride had two saris. The burgundy was for the ceremony and the blue one was a gift from her in-laws that she wore for the reception. It's a cultural tradition that the family of the groom provides a sari for the bride that she will wear at the reception. It took about two hours for her to redo her makeup and get ready once the formals were done! But it was worth every minute, as she was stunning!

Very nice matey

I think you should change your watermark to a frame and lower watermark though, having the watermark cut through the images is a bit distracting tbh.

C&C .. although i am newb so take it with a pnch of salt !

1. Really nice detail shot, spot on.

2. Great angle very flattering and the colours are superb

3. Nicely timed shot but I think less DOF would have been better so we were focused on the bride with some nice foreground blurred.

4. Nice shot but I find the line to the left and the tree in between a bit distracting.

5. Kewl shot but I would prefer a bit tighter on the people.... nice work with the loan of the coat! :)

6. Nice shot but I would prefer it cropped a bit tighter so we can see more of the brides face in the reflection.

7. Very nice first dance shot matey

8. And another very nice first dance shot.

9. Wheres yah blog !

Thanks Banbert!

I'm working on a script that will do just that (the signature/watermark frame)! But I'm very busy recently with job searching, weddings, finishing my Ph.D. thesis and scientific papers, going to the gym, etc... and developing that script is a bit lower in my priorities... But it will come soon, I promise!

And while you say you are a n00b, I really enjoy your work and your C/C is very appreciated!

Thanks for #1 and #2 :)

For #3, I wanted to give an idea of the overall scene. But I agree it may look a bit more snapshotish this way. We do have a few of just the bride with a tight crop and shallow DOF.

In #4, the "line" to the left is actually his scarf being blown by the wind. This is a lot more apparent in the color version and I think it's the way to go with this image. The B/W conversion just doesn't work well here.

For #5, I actually would have wanted it to be wider! The scenery was pretty nice, the lighting was simply amazing... but I was stuck at 17mm and my wide angle was in my backpack. As we were rushed a bit with time (the bride needed to go change - you know, the two hour changing session!), I decided to do with what I had at hand. But maybe a closer crop would have been also nice :)

#6 may have also been good with a tigher crop, but because these were multiple glass windows, there were many reflections and her face was hard to see. Plus I like the effect with all the lights from outside.

Thanks for #7 and #8 :)

My blog is coming! I'm planning on adding one this autumn when I'm a bit less busy (when the wedding season is over, that is! Two more weddings to go :D).

very nice set sebastien. i really love #7, i love the lighting in it especially.

Thanks, asxu!

The lighting in the room was very nice for the first dance. Here's another one that I really enjoy! I will be cloning out the distracting people and other elements in this one to make it even more unique!

#9 First dance, again... You'd think that I've never seen a first dance before with the number of first-dance pictures that I am posting :p

Here's a few more!

10. The gift to the bride. A new sari and a "cross" (I don't find it looks like a cross, but apparently, that's what it's supposed to be). The red strings on the cross are 7 strings coming from the bride's sari (the burgundy one!).
http://www.sebastienphoto.com/Natasha&Shareef/NS_0341.jpg

11. The groom, tying the knot, litterally! He had to tie the cross around his bride's neck.

12. Detail shot during the ceremony
http://www.sebastienphoto.com/Natasha&Shareef/NS_0517.jpg

13. The reception venue

14. Cake shot.

15. A friend and musician

16 .A cake shot. Very warm, but I liked it that way.

17. During some emotional speeches...

These are really nice sebastien! Bon travail!

They are cut off at an odd place in 4... the calves is an awkward place to crop off limbs.

7 is a nice moment, but the hand painted vignette just seems weird to me. Other than that I really enjoyed the pics. I love colourful weddings! I didn't do a single indian wedding this year so I missed out :(

True about the bad cut-off in #4. I have a full body version as well, but I wanted this one to be closer. Wanted to crop them a bit higher, but I ended up just cutting their feet. Thanks for pointing it out!
