I've managed to secure my first destination booking and have a wedding in Rome next year. The chruch is close to The Forum, The Colosseum is one of the couples chosen locations, do any wedding photographers have experience of shooting in Rome and would be able to share some examples or location details before I head out for a recce?
Many thanks
Chris

HAven't shot a wedding, but have been - I would say the Spanish Steps are a must - very dolce vita!. One thing - when taking cabs in Rome, ask the driver how much and can he give you a receipt, before you set off. They are somewhat creative in their routing on occasion. Here's a few shots of mine from my last visit, if it helps to inspire...

I'm so jealous. I love rome!
I would go to the ruins near the colosseum, Also the Vatican and yes, the steps. And any narrow street.

Thanks for the info.
I'm meeting up with them both in January for a pre-wedding shoot and a recce of the area. The groom is local so atleast there'll be some knowledge of how to find the locations.
Thanks for the taxi tip, thankfully this will just be Airport to Hotel and back as I'm travelling with the bride on the day.
Kind regards,
Chris

I live in Rome. Feel free to ask me if you need help.
There is TONS of locations here, as you may imagine. Now, as for weddings, naturally I don't know since I am a hobbyist only.
Still, if you have something in mind, I may be of help.

You should have zero problems finding places to shoot a wedding couple. You'll have a great time ;) Here are some places (I'm sure you're aware of them, but just in case)...

Just throw a BnG in the left hand corner. You might have to compose the shot a little different, but you get hte idea...

Castel San D'Angelo (close to the Vatican, you can't miss it). You could also get a million photos of the BnG walking across this bridge.

The Vatican. Just walk down the road that faces it and stop when you want. By the way, Castel San D'Angelo (the photo above) is directly behind me from where I am taking this photo...just to give an idea of location.
These next two are the wife and I. Just turn right out the "Colloseo" metro station and walk up a ramp to the right. Up top is this little gem. If you turn the camera angle 90 degrees, you have the Forum to your right.

The wife and me again (timer+tripod+running my a$$ off). This is at the collumns in front of the Vatican. There were a bunch of people but it wasn't hard to wait for a break.
Like I said, there are far more options in this wonderful city. You could go with nothing in mind and stumble across a million awesome places. The main thing I would recommend is photographing at night. Night photos of a bride and groom in Rome would be amazing. Have fun!
