G2 is about 1 year old. Any news about the new Canon semi-pro DC? Will it be G3?

Spoke to the local Canon Rep last week - no plans for a G3 release yet... nothing replacing the Pro90 either... guess it's the G2 or the D60... at least until that new Nikon comes out... ;-)

There is an industry rumour of a digital SLR that's going to slay the pricing of the models around at the moment - no one really seems to know who it's from, etc...

FYI:The canon g3 was unveil sept 16, but wont come to retailers till mid october.
Check it out at canon.com
I had just ordered a G2, which i promptly canceled, and Im going to wait till the G3 is sold and buy it instead.
It was a cool feature that automatically knows if you are taking a landscape photo, or if you have rotated the camera to take a up and down photo; and automatically rotates the picture in the memory
Also It was a feature which alows you to take photos at a given interval, of up to 100 hours.
Im excited about it

Is it possible to get the G2 or G3 to take a quick sequence of images, ie. 4 or 5 in a second or so? I know they have a low-res movie mode, but I don't see anything in the online documentation about a higher res sequence feature.

Thanks,
Alex

The new G3 looks good to me. I will buy one, but will wait until the next best thing is just around the corner. Until then I will keep on enjoying my G2. Still a great camera.

What is the difference between difference between G2 and G3. Most important of all, is the picture quality of G3 better than G2??

Found the answer to my own question:

Continuous Shooting High Speed: Approx. 2.5 images/sec., Normal: Approx. 1.5 images/sec.
(at Large/Fine mode and LCD viewfinder is OFF)
