I purchased my dRebel yesterday at Circuit City, in Wisconsin after a couple months of anticipation. I couldn't decide between it or the 10d, but I was on a limited budget, and planning on going on a missionary trip in September so money is tight. I hope to post a couple pictures soon on here from my first few shots with it. I actually tried to use my dRebel last night after charging up the battery only to find out that the cf card kept giving me an err 2 but in reality it must have been the dRebel body; so I took it back today to the local Circuit City and they tried the cf on another body and it worked fine, so they swapped the body with a new one. I appreciate all your advice in the past. To those still debating, I would have went for the 10d if I had the money, I am not so happy with the dRebel's body, it seems a bit fleemsy, but I do like the camera.

Congrats dude! Concerning the heft of the camera: I moved up from a g3 and the rebel, plsatic or no, felt much better than the g3.
You know what would be really nice, if the hacked firmware would allow you to set the right arrow button to a custom function. I have 'set' set to toggle between sizes, but I would also like the toggle MLU on or off without going through menus.
I guess my other big beef about the rebel is the amount of info displayed. I really wish that the viewfinder/lcd would display the ISO speed as well as a few other tid bits.

Welcome to the club!
300D is a very good camera. Enjoy!

The Rebel is a fine camera in just about all respects. I assure you that it is not flimsy in any way. What you are calling 'fleemsy' is actually light weight. If you want more mass, buy the battery grip and put two batteries in it. Your Rebel will become quite a load. If it still feels flimsy to you, put a big honking lens on it and carry that around for a while. You'll find yourself longing for the 'good old days' when cameras didn't weigh so much.

You really should join the 310D, it makes the rebel so much better. :P

Do you mean up the hack on my camera, or what? Or get an 10d too, hehe. Yeah please pardon my "fleemsy flimsy misspellings." I do not mean to say the body isn't a good design, its just the battery clamp and the cf cover seems to me that it wouldn't take a ton of use to start wearing out a bit. I do plan on buying a battery grip and extra battery whenever I do get the money. And hopefully a flash soon for it.
Love this forum, thanks again.
Chad.

For what it is worth, the battery door costs about $12CDN (which is probably $7 or $8 USD I assume). If you assume the flash compartment door is about the same it would cost around $15USD to replace both, which means that you could replace them about 30 times over for the price difference between the 10D and the 300D.

Hey there. Wish you the best with your new addition. I've had mine for about a month now and am thrilled. The battery grip is a great addition I think. Feels real solid with the grip(not that I would have called it flimsy without it)
