Hello Everyone!
Can I merge photos together using Photoshop Elements 5? I would love to try my hand at some HDR phots!

Sure, but it isn't a one click thing
download the hiddenelements 'action' set for PSE5 here (get the free one):
http://www.hiddenelements.com/
Hiddenelements has a layer masking action.
You can use the layers and masks to blend exposures. It can be a little time consuming, but effective.
You may need to read up on using layers and masks if you don't have experience with those tools.

Thanks so much bacchanal! I have been studying the Photomatix site for a while now and I can't wait to try the free trial! I'm very excited to try my hand at HDR photography!

I don't know if it is technically HDR, but it gives the basic effect of increasing the amount of shadow and highlight detail in an image. It's as simple as learning and understanding how to use layer masks
