This was a very interesting home fire, and a show of what happens when you do microwave PBJ Sandwiches.

#1, Capn' coming out from the smoke. I tried to give depth to it, but it did not work. Need to experiment more with smoke...

#2, It always gets warm in the back of the house. Really interesting the oven effect, as you see lots of flames coming up from the foundation (When the roof gives out, it all goes down to crap). The Roof is on Fire! The Roof is on Fire !!...

#3, the garage will finally have some space for those windows we always wanted. Overheated Concrete behaves much like cardboard, its strength drops to near zero. I saw this wall intact, and then all the way down to the ground.

#4 Here is a good look at the structural fire in progress, roof already down, and the flames are starting to do their damage. So this is the BEFORE picture, if you will.

#5, this is what was left only 25 mins after photo #4. As you can see, the walls are gone, and the place is a real mess. Definitely going to have to repaint and vacuum before having people over.

#6 Just a nice photo for the local LMFD Guys, just watching the fire put itself down. Once all the procedures were over, they concentrated on keeping the ground wet and staying safe, and the house basically collapsed into itself.

Ok, gotta send them in before the deadline. :)

CC not needed but welcome. :)

#7 This photo was IT for me, looking into the window on the center of the photograph, the entire place was literally in flames. Incredible sight, very cool to watch and at the same time extremely sobering.

This was a training thing right? I just wanted to clarify to the good viewers so they don't think you are making jokes about someones home. :p

I like them... especially the one with the Capt and the smoke. I bet some PP good pull it out better.

Thanks Lucy and Izak. Both assumptions are right.

Thanks Luc, it is important to clarify THE HOUSE WAS EMPTY, and used for training purposes. There were no valuables nor any other risks other for those who were in training, and the dumb ones with no protection and the cameras about (Actually just me, I think). I would never make such sarcastic comments if there were an actual house on fire. As I explained to a couple of fighters yesterday, I often suggest the paper to run with file photos, in order to avoid resentment. (I mean if my house burned down, I would hate to see my Canon stuff and underwear all charred and water-soaked on a paper).

And Incubus, you are also right. I tried to make a big pipe out of the fireplace, but alcohol was the wrong type of starter fluid (so hard to think when you're high already). Anyhow, funny thing is, the only structure left this morning, was the fireplace. Intact, if I may say. :)

Andy, it was quite warm. Two times I got too close for comfort, one to the fire, and the second one downwind from the black smoke, I have breathed smoke before, but this was super bad, I just stumbled the property's width.

Hats off to the hose draggers. Good job to them.

Interesting series, I wonder if they use the same structure over and over again? It seems quite devastated, looking at the last pic. Scorched earth.

Caro Signore,

No. The owners moved out a week earlier, and it was my understanding that they had sold the lot so others could come and build something entirely new. So the FD got permission, and they set up a burn, on a normal house. You can see it collapsing as the fire progresses.

There are plenty of training fire houses, with gas pipes that make flame, and etc. Just not near this area. So this training in theory was as close as the new Firefighters can ever get to a real house fire.

It was quite a sight to see. I enjoy these better than actual emergency burns, and other stuff.

Interesting series and the shots are good. It looks hot, not just from the fire. :)

We have 3 or 4 controlled burns in my county per year. It always makes the news and there are plenty of old houses around that need to go. They clean out all the nasty stuff first, like any asbestos, before they burn it though. It's the best way for these guys to learn. :)

My running joke, was telling the firefighters "Hey, when you come to my home, please do the opposite, will you?... Get the wife, kids, and save the house. Don't you just let it burn down like this..."

"Don't worry, we'll save the cat too" he said, in an attempt to comfort me.
"F--k the cat, just get my family out"... Eveyone burst out laughing.
For the record, I love cats, but I do not have one. It was just a comedic moment. ;)
