Hi all!! i don't know if you can help me with this. I want to set up a little studio at home, to shoot the family. The problem is that there are not many places here in madrid to buy this kind of stuff so I should buy it in a website that imports this stuff from the States (the website is americanphotoimp.com)

I've seen two interesting kits which include :

Mettle PF Flash Kit : 2 Flash Mt-160, 2 pie aluminio, 1 softbox 40x60, 1 snoot 1 aletas, 1 umbrella

- Mettle Quartz-Lite: 2 lights QL-1000, , softbox 90cms, softbox 4 in 1 50x130, 2 reflectors, 2 lamps g 9,5 1000W tungsteno

I don't know which one should I buy, because I want to use it for home to do family portraits, so if you could help me I'd be very grateful

Sorry, can't help with this particular brand, but don't forget the time-diffrence between you and the States. It's only 9:00am on a Sunday morning on the East coast over there (and earlier further West)

One of those (Quartz-Lite) seems to be a "continous hot lights" setup. You and your subjects will hate those. A huge chunk of that 1000W power will be lost in the form of heat which will heat up the room and the subject. Strobes make for happy subjects.

If you're going to consider the first one, go for some work lights from Wal-Mart (or your country's equivalent). I don't know what the currency conversion, but it's certainly cheaper. You can get 2 removable lights mounted on an adjustable tripod for $30 USD. Just use 2 or 3 of those plus some umbrellas/diffusers/reflectors. It'll cost significantly less. But like shooterman said, they get very hot so you'll be uncomfortable unless you're outdoors or in a big room. Or with icy cold air conditioning. :p

I wish we had some similar Wal-Mart to buy this kind of stuff, but after looking and asking in different places i've found out this is the cheaper i can get :S I guess i should buy the flash kit, after what shootermand said :D damn i don't want to get burn!!!
Thanks 4 the advice to all of you ;)
