I wanna see how many people on here can afford to purchase a 4000 dollar camera.

And maybe use it to justify myself into getting one in the future

There are 27 people here with MkIIs, 13 with 1Ds,
122 with 10Ds, 237 with 300Ds, and 13 Nikon D70s
owners who don't have a cool forum of their own
to hang out.

Umm... this is unscientific.

If your not a pro whats the point. The 10D does a great job. Where do you stop.

"No luggage rack on a hearse",
"He who dies with the most toys wins",
and because holding, listening to the shutter snap, and using a Mark II is sheer pleasure.

I, unfortunately, am not one of those people.

Though I am happy with my Rebel.

Although i remember the thread he is talking about...the search engines on these message boards are crap. You do a search for MKII or anything of the like and your almost better off just searching page by page without the search engine

I stop with my Mark II. It will last me far longer than a 10D would have.

How can one tell if they have already voted?

Yes, I have more money than brain cells left ... so I can afford a Mark II, but can't remember if I voted ... or how it works ... or uhhh???

Remembering where I put it would be good ... :D

It'll only let you vote once.. so if it lets you vote,. you haven't voted :)

I wasn't sure so I went and looked. It says 1D up near the top, and Mark II down near that bottom. Is that what you're talking about?

Thanks, CDS! Well, there's one more vote. :D

No regrets here. If you really want one and can afford one, do it. I can't imagine someone being disappointed; I'm certainly not.

Yep got one of those. It's the first digital which does not sacrifice any of the features & performance of a film camera. No regrets, it should last me a lifetime or until they come out with something new that I just gotta have...

That reminds me of another pro canon digital
I know someone with one of the DCS somethingorother models. It's based on the eos1 but only has 1.3 megapix.
I think it so funny that he is now stuck with a camera that will last longer than him but is basically useless

Hope it doesn't sound like i'm implying the mark II will go the same way
....about the only possible thing you might miss in future is in-body image stabilization

I had a choice. The 1D Mark II or my marriage. It came down to a coin toss, and the wife won (oh my god, here she comes! Delete! Delete!).

In my opinion, there are 4 kinds of people that have bought 1D Mark II's - Serious professionals, seriously rich guys, serious basket cases, and guys with small ding dongs.

There are guys on this board who make great use of the 1D Mark II out at the track, in the stadium, or in the backcountry (yea, you know who you are, and you deserve every megapixel of your purchase).

There are other guys on this board that don't shoot professional, but carry around $4500 in pocket change and hand out 10D's as party favors.

There are guys out there who can't shoot worth sh*t, and are convinced the problem is all in the camera so they endlessly upgrade (let me save you some money - it's you. Now take a class or read a book or something).

And then of course there are the sad few who think a 1D Mark II might get them laid more than their 10D bretheren (my camera is bigger than your camera!).

Me? I'm none of these guys. I am a serious photographer, but only a part time professional (it's the artist in me - don't sell out!). I'm not rich, but I also have no right to call myself poor (think Somalia). I know I can shoot, because I sell my work regularly in local galleries.

As as far as getting laid? Remember, I did say I was married. Sadly, that is enough said (coming dear!).

10D for me and not a sliver of L glass in sight....

Right now I'm still busy learning the DRebel. Happy with that for now, plus I want some good lenses and the MK II + good lenses=way too much debt and frankly I can't afford to pay 3-4,000+ cash. Maybe in a couple of years, but for now I'm satisfied. Had a Nikon D100 last year and sold on ebay-just too much camera for me. Too many menus and functions for a busy person to learn.

Let's see, I am not a serious pro. I am not seriously rich. Maybe I am a basket case......so I guess that leaves the last one. Boy, but when I whip out the "Big White One"(my EF 300mm 4L) I hear gasps and the ladies get weak in the knees. Some people spent 50 grand on a Vette or a BMW, I got off cheap $5500 for my "package"
Cheers,
Rob
