Zapshot is not compatible with the 40D (if that's what you are talking about). Only support rebel series.
ZAP-SHOT is a wireless remote control for your Canon EOS 300D / 350D / 400D Digital Rebel / XT / XTi

Berwick - I used a Zapshot on my XT and now use a Gadget Inifinity on my 5D. The Zapshot was around $100 US, and the GI around $40. Both work.
The Zapshot is built like a tank. The quality of the device was excellent, and it performed to specs, exactly as advertised. When I sold my XT, the buyer got my Zapshot - which I found out later could have been adapted to my 5D ( I need to verify this fact - not quite sure where I read it).
Before I discovered that, I went ahead and ordered the GI. Please read Curtis's review which NutsnBolts links to. Curtis is exactly on target. The thing works ok, but the build quality is cheesy and appears fragile to me. I am careful how I use it.
All in all, if the money is important, buy the GI- but not if you are a pro.
If the build quality is needed - go for the Zapshot.
Either way, good luck, and welcome to POTN
