With my G5, it seems that with the flash turned on, no matter what I do, I can't get the shutter speed faster than 1/250. Can anyone explain, is there a real, logical reason for this? Or (better yet), is there a way around it?
Specifically, I sometimes have situations where I want just a tiny bit of fill flash on a subject that's in shadow or somewhat silhouetted, but when the shutter speed drops down to 1/250, either the overall scene gets overexposed, or I might be trying to get a fast shutter speed to freeze movement and instead get a bit of blur.
And, one other thing: is this fixed (or fixable) using an external flash, in particular the 420? (550 is out of my budget range.)
TIA
