Has anyone experimented with a Canon G2 to do infrared photos using a Hoya R72 filter?
I just bought a G2 (used) from Toronto and heard it is pretty good, but I'd like to see some examples?
Would you know if this camera has a IR blocker like the old NIKON CoolPix 990?
:D Can't wait to shoot with the Canon! :D

I have not tried IR with my G2, but I've been interested in it for a while, and I've seen pages by G2 owners with lovely IR galleries--I just can't find them again!
Here's some info from a G3 owner:

The G2 does have a 'hot mirror' for blocking IR, which is a good thing for normal photography. It doesn't block all IR though--just point the canon remote at your lens (looking through the LCD viewer), and press a button on the remote. Neat, huh? Good way to check if the batteries in any remote are dying too :)

Here is a link to a gallery in which the shooter uses the set up you are referring to:

Chris is very active on this board. If you do a search on the "Share Photos" board you will find many examples and explanations of his workflow.
Cheers,
Rob
P.S. I would suggest getting an adapter and a IR filter from Lensmate they are excellent people to deal with http://www.lensmateonline.com/buy.html

Yes, thank you for that last gallery, I haven't seen that one before. I've had my G2 for a week now and absolutly love the camera! Simple to use and great features, I'm experimenting now with taking IR shots in the studio.
Canaon sure does know how to write a easy to follow manual, unlike my "other digital camera". :?
Thanks again for your information, the G5 model must be amazing too!
