Name that bird...

Took this on the weekend down by an urban creek (actually part of the first Welland canal between Lake Erie and Ontario; the reason my town exists really). Thought someone would know what it is...this non-birder would appreciate the help. Taken with 30D, Sigma 100-300 with 1.4x at 420mm handheld..

Juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron...nice.

Thanks, I knew someone would know that. Figures that it was a nocturnal species - it didn't move from that spot in a swamp beside the river/creek in the half-hour from when my wife spotted it on her walk and when I returned with my camera (figuring that of course it would be gone).
