I can't get above 2,700 yet, I have no idea how you get to 5,000 or more!

It's the 3rd wave of planes that get me. I think need to upgrade more instead of making new towers.

Another little tip, you need at least a stage 3 squirt tower or a Bash tower to get those pesky little "Dark Creeps".

I had squirt towers at Stage 4 I think, but didn't even try the bash towers.
I was a couple of Ink towers instead, not sure if they work or not.

You need to have 3 or 4 air towers that are upgraded to stage 2 before the 3rd wave.

Oh man...I have been playing that game for a couple months. The trick is to have a diagonal maze and then upgrade a couple pellet towers to snipers in the middle of the course. That way they will provide coverage for the entire course. then upgrade the junk out of everything.

Did that, and they still go through!
I think I need to work on placement of the sniper towers, but they are certianly VERY powerful.

I literally went to sleep last night thinking of new layouts,.
I tired one last night I REALLY liked, but realized the mistake was forcing them to start clockwise,. which meant that the ones that come from the top would have less traveling to do as the bottom opening was coming up first,. I need to reverse the direction so they each have equal time in the maze.

If you check out the Fun game type, there is an option to play with 10,000 gold to start with.
Its a good way to try the different tower types, and how they work when upgraded ;)

I usually get those now. Knowing that they come, I prepare accordingly. I have two level-5 swarm towers by the time they come and for my last game, I had also a level-4 swarm tower. I usually also have four level-5 squirt towers and a bunch of level-5 pellet towers.

Last game, I only had one little "son" of a spawn that managed to slip through my maze... :mad:

This game is a ton of fun. On the "100 level challenge" I got to like level 54 or something when 2 flying bosses came with 72k health each. I hardly damaged them before they flew right through.

I finally broke 6K though.. but I stole your maze to do it!

The biggest thing was dumping the bash towers,. every dollar sunk into a bash tower, no matter how good it is against groups of ground units, are dollars spent that don';t effect the flyers.
You need to spend only on the dual damage units, so in the end you have only squirts, pellets, and some swarms in the rear.

CDS - You're right, I loved bash at first but never could get those last two flying bosses, then I tried to use those flying base thingys and the last upgrade is kinda a bummer cause it doesn't x4 it like a lot of other things.

Nah, they shoot at whatever they feel like. However their range covers about the entire board. Best to put them in the back cause that way they will always shoot the first in line.

They're ok, but not my cup of tea.

It turns out, if you click on a bogey, and it is in range of your sniper towers, they WILL target the bogey you clicked on so long as you leave it highlighteed the sniper tower will only target that creep!

Not too shabby,.. it's not germane to our current "normal" mode record attempts as we all seem to know that typhoon towers are the shnizzle,.. but still, for the advanced modes or some challenges, a group of four sniper towers with some power up towers mixed in for 150% damage boost... that's a good way pick off dangerous bosses while leaving your typhoons to work on a hoard of something else, offering more of an early stage bonus :)

It's not too hard once you look at the maps of a couple of people who have submitted high scores and then have a bit of a play around and find something that works for you.

the key is to remember that a few high powered towers are more effective than lots of weak ones, and to send waves of new creeps when your defences can cope with them without being overwhelmed.

with some of the bosses and the spawns you may need to "shuffle" i.e. let them get so far through your maze and then make a subtle change that forces them to abandon their route to the exit and pass past your key defences again (and again etc.)

Thats the key and some look / perseverance... Good Luck

So, after spending untold weeks and hours on DTD, I looked up more tower defense games..
FYI, DTD is by far the best of the breed,. seriously.

However I did find two others that are very good, the best is Vector Tower Defence

Not as complex or scalable as DTD, but still very appealing and visually wonderfully as well.
Beating it on the easier levels becomes fairly straight forward once you (finally) realize the strategy required.. (I'll let you all find out for yourselves, but one hint, bigger is not always better in this game) But the harder levels? They get really hard ..

VTD is just not my cup of tea, I don't know why but DTD just has that little something that keeps me addicted.
