OK, guess you didn't like the Gannet or the Bazillion Phalaropes images. So let's try these images of Black Guillemot in eclipse headed toward winter plumage.

The images were taken from the cliffs along Ocean Drive in Acadia National Park.

C&C would be appreciated.

Thanks Karen. It seems I fought the light the whole time I was in Acadia. Most of the time I was shooting in the morning, facing East, with the sun behind the birds. That made shadowing brutal and made catchlight very tough.

Thanks Alex. I appreciate the feedback. We love Acadia and visit almost every year in September although we are thinking about June next year to take a day trip up to Cutler for the Puffin trip out to Machias Seal Island.

Yeah, isn't that frustrating?? The best shots seem to have the worst light. You did well, then for the situation. Still a cute bird!

Thanks Karen. Yes it is a good-looking bird. And I am satisfied that I did the best I could with the situation. I was high on a cliff overlooking the ocean with the Guillemot back lit. I couldn't get any closer or lower without going in the drink! and I couldn't get around him without a boat. C'est la vie. :)
