i'm getting into photographing the freeride/Downhill mountain bike scene around here. the guys are my friends so they let me photograph them where others would normally not be allowed. i'm extremely limited right now as i'm using an A80 but i'd still like some kinda critique on the composition at least. these shot were taken during very short riding sessions so i had very few pictures to work with, but i'll have plenty more in the coming weeks.

both of these print at about 17"x9".

Looks like a lot of fun.

Shots look good. They just need some sharpening.

You should also try to get some close-up shots of them flying through the air.

Given the camera they were taken with I'd say they're good and photographer's skilled.

Improving those shots would probably require a DSLR and a 17-40L. 8)

I have to agree with karusel. But don't hesitate on the dslr. I used my A40 for these same shots and it was killing me. I knew I needed the speed and fill flash of the D-Rebel and the 420ex. It got to the point I couldn't stand the disappointment of having all these potentially great shots but I didn't have the gear to help me out.

i was seriously considering selling my bike for a camera but i WON"T do it. i've still got time to save up for the SLR before i'm out of school.

both of these images were made from two shots, by the way. i had to do that to simulate the wide angle lens look.

Maybe a little fill flash would help. Not too much though (wouldn't want to give it an artificial look).
