UPC Code was already highlighted in another thread on this site a while ago. Took that site a while to pick up on it. The fact that there are links to modify and delete in the screenshot makes me think any yahoo can come along and submit what they like.

Kind of sketchy to base a whole camera off but hey, I'm all for new Canon models ;)

That UPC database is a user run community and anyone can add to it without any kind of verification.

I saw the same blurb on Engadget and the site that they link to. Will be interesting to see if anything comes of it.

May be it's just me, but looking at the feature list and price of current 5D, I feel there are big gaps between 1DsMkIII ($8000, 21.1mp/5fps/1x) 1DMkIII ($4500, 10.1mp/10fps/1.3x) 5D ($2500,12mp/3fps/1x) and 40D ($1300, 10.1mp/6.5fps/1.6x).
I am suspecting Canon will introduce a 3D ($3800, 16.5mp/6fps/1x) and 7D ($2200, 10.1mp/5fps/1.3x), along with 5DmkII ($3200, 16.5mp/3 fps/1x) to bridge these gaps...
3D and 5DmkII would be pretty much identical with exception of slower processor on 5DmkII. 7D would satisfy people who can't quite afford a full-frame body, or 7D could be re-badged current 5D.

I think naming the 5D upgrade 7D would be better then 5D mark II. 7D has a ring to it.

I actually think exactly the opposite - I've always like the idea of 5D Mark II rather than 7D. I guess I just don't like prime numbers...

Maybe its just because my favorite number is 7:D

Since we're all just guessing, my bet is it will either be called a 5D Mark II, 4D or 3D. If they go with anything other than 5D Mark II, they will run out of numbers in a few more generations. :)

Oh God... not another one to drool over... it's like the 40D all over again...

I would snap up a 3D with those specs in a heartbeat.

Why not 6D? Even numbers work fine with 40D?

because their single digit model numbers have historically been odd.

nah...theres always decimals and exponents! imagine...the year is 2025 and we are sitting around discussing the recent release of the 3.457DmkII.III. just a thought.

Hey, all Canon has to do is to call the camera the Pi D, and with each successive generation, they'll just add the next digit to the name and call it a day. That is, Canon will call it 3.14D as the first model, 3.141D in the second model, 3.1415D in the next model, etc.
Even with a paltry 3.1415926539, that would give us 9 generation's worth of cameras already. And last time I checked, Pi has quite a few digits in it. :p

They could make a small, cheap model for new buyers and call it the Lose your Cherry Pi.

18 generations if you consider MK II's! Seriously though, I dont think Canon are too woried about running short on model number generations. Right now we are seeing the result of a lot of break through technology and market competition. before long meantime between releases will probably get a little longer, as it did with film. this will be a result of either a slow down in new features available or a slow in market competition. anyway...i will still await the arrival of my 3D!
