I have a Rebel 2000, 28-90mm lens an am using quantaray filters. When developed the pics look good but when developed to disc or scanned they grainy and terrible, should I try digital Kodak film or is there something else ?
Example pic(Big Bear Lake 2pm):

What ISO is that film and have u tried unsharp mask? The other idea is that the lens is the weakest link. Have a look at this thread where I compared 2 lenses and I think you will see where I am going. Pics towards the bottom...

If you don't mind, I am attempting to tweek the pics and get a much better result usong USM (UnSharp Mask) and plain sharpen in PSE 2.0 and I will post them hopefully tomorrow. If you have a problem with this, please let me know by PM/or in this thread and I will not post it.

You're getting your film processed and then scanned then. What resolution are they scanning it at? If you're going to the local 1-hour lab, it's probably 1536 x 1024 or so, which would look pretty grainy compared to film. That's about 1.5 MP digital camera equivalent. You can, for more expense, get the film scanned at higher resolutions, and with the higher resolution will go a certain amount more care in the process, especially if you go to a specialist.

What scanner? I don't think the digital film is any diffrent than regular film except that you get a disk with the roll of film. (I could be wrong). I got the canon Lide 80 (???) and I can scan this at 600dpi from a 4x6.

I can go up to 1200dpi. If I wanted a pic to look really good I would of course bring it to my local camera shop and have them do it. I have Target make my 4x6 :oops: prints but they are really bad with 8x10 when I tried. I would pay the extra $1 and get it done by a pro in a non one hour lab. I just won't buy a soda next time I go to McDs (wait, I DO NOT go there (gets sick) make that Jack in the Box or Culver's).
Just my $0.02
