A couple of shots from the Monday Night Football Bengals / Patriots game. This was my first effort at shooting a football game with a lens that might make a difference. WOW...L lenses are certainly worth the investment. The speed is remarkable.
The first 2 are shot with the 70-200 f2.8 L IS with the 1.4x attached. At some point in the night, I took the extender off. The remaining shots are with just the lens. Many thanks to my mentor who turned me on to this forum for allowing me to borrow the lens. All shots are hand held.
Yeah, I know...a little NI or NN on these would do nicely. Considering I was about 14 rows from the top of the stadium (for some of the night), I'm pretty happy with the results. The first 2 are at f/4 and ISO 640 and probably 1/400 or 500, I can't recall. The final posts are at f/2.8, ISO 800, and 1/800 or 1/1000. Again...I can't remember which shots are which.
This was a learning experience to say the least. About 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter, I made friends with the security guy watching the Handicap section and got about 14 rows closer to the action from different sides of the upper level with no "fan interaction" in front of the lens.
Too bad the bengals look like they're a team headed down hill.
