To all the sports photogs....How do you have your AF points set up in the Al-servo mode? Center, 9 point center, 9 point active, etc. Thanks for your input.

If you go into the CF #13. I set it to one which is multi-controller direct. This treats the toggle button near the LCD( just above the larger thumb dial) as a joystick for selecting the auto focus point you want for your shot whilst the trigger is half depressed( just as though you were doing it normally) that way you can really zone in on the focus area desired as quickly as possible. I have a 20d. Mabey it is similar on other cams. I hesitate on using the center only method when the crops are not so tight( other areas of interest) or if the sports your shooting is not that fast.

So as I read, no one uses the 9 point, 11 point or the "active" settings and just use the basic center point setting.

Well see here lies the problem. Not everyone owns a camera with these functions. ;) So when I say I use center only that is because, for me, it is the most accurate on my XT. For your MKIIN, you might have better results using some other method.

MK2N, 1D, 5D, 20D...all center point. Works for me.

cfn 13 (Number AF points/Spot Metering)- Option 1....11/Active AF
cfn 17 (AF Point Activation Area) - Option 2...Automatic Expand (max 13)
I also use all the AF points - frankly I paid for 45 AF points so am going to use all of them!!
Seriously though, I tried a number of settings with the 1d Mk1 and these worked best for me - so just used them also on the MK2. There might be better settings, but these give me great results.
