Just was wondering what some of you think if I had a chance to trade my Canon eos 300D for a Canon eos 1D would you do it or not? I am talking with someone and thinking about trading it off. Would you or would you not do it...never had a 1D and was wondering if it is worth it.

How much cash would you have to include along with the 300D? From what I have heard the 1D is a wonderful camera, not even in the same league as the 300D. Let us know what kind of deal you are getting and you will probably get some feedback.

Assuming that both are in reasonable condition, with all the bits and pieces that are necessary to make them work, I'd take the deal. At the bare minimum, you could turn around, sell the 1D ($2K+) and buy two brand new Rebels. If you decide not to do it, let me know. I'll buy the person with the 1D a brand-new Rebel myself.

maybe you should upgrade to a 10D instead of to a 1D? A 1D is a hefty tool that if you're decently happy with the 300d, you probably don't need...

Can you even compare the two? one is a professional camera one is entry level...............................
if the 1d is in good working condition, take it. I would, and I would throw my sister into the deal if I had one.........
How much extra cash does this guy want? considering there is a $1400 gap in the current prices between the two.
Cheers.

The only things bad i can say about the 1D are the actual pictures you get from it-(they'll certainly look abit different)
and reliability (because the 1D may be faulty in some way)
Other than that,GRAB IT :D

i upgraded from 10D to 1D, and what a superb machine, i have no regrets at all. but i wouldn't trade it in, you won't get much for your 300D. sell it first, get more money for it, then buy the 1D

I am still debating on this. Why did you sell your 10D for a 1D? Just wanting to know because I think the 10D pictures may be much better than the 1D...but, that is from looking at pictures posted on sites and not in person.

reason for me to upgrade is i need a fast machine for sports/action shots. i was at Silverstone with 10D, and i just felt pain when you framed the perfect shot, pressed the shutter then it's telling you buffer full ... i missed quite a few shots because of that, also sharpness 1D is way better, from what i've seen, auto focus is spot on every time. with 45zone focus system, it is tons better than a 7 point.
1D is the only camera with CCD sensor, every other model uses CMOS ones, i don't know the technical differences between them but i sure can tell from sharpness. with the photos i took on 1D, there is no need for me to do any sharpening in ps, not much retouching at all. 1D also has an external WB sensor, which can be a great help.
with 2mp less, you get more photos on a card then on 10D.
I'll be out n shoot next week for some football coverage here at Old Trafford, Manchester, just hope i can frame some good shots with my 70-200mm + 1.4x TC II, knowing camera won't be the reason if i miss it.
