Hey ya'll. I have a friend that's wanting to get into selling her images. As in a stock photo thing. She takes lots of images of nature, animals, landscapes, etc.
Does anyone recommend any sites that are good for selling those types of images?
I found Shutterpoint.com, but recommendations are very welcome!

Never done it myself. However, I've seen some recommendations on things you need to avoid. The only one I can think of is a biggie: Never sell a photo where you indemnify the purchaser against any legal actions related to the photo. If they get in trouble for using the photo, they'll just point to you and say "We're not liable, she retains the legal liabilities. Sue her."
Oh, and if you feature a person in the photo, you'll need a model release. Here's an example of getting sued: (LINK (http://www.pdnonline.com/pdn/newswire/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003642941))

Thanks! I'll let her know. She tried at starting a studio, but realized that she doesn't like dealing with people. LOL So, she mainly just does nature stuff. She's just amazing!! I keep telling her she need to sell them, and she seems interested in doing that just doesn't know where to start. KWIM?

I don't know much about the stock photography side of it or how much you can make doing so. I however also shoot nature/landscapes. I started selling my prints via my website, business cards and word of mouth. I have a full time job, but yet I was still able to make over $3000 this year on prints alone. Check out my site if you'd like an idea of what I'm talking about....

That subject matter is difficult to sell as its been done to death.
Same for flowers, bugs, ducks etc.
Stuff that sells is conceptual photography, professional model released lifestyle, no logos, hi end travel with same, real productions, imho.

ShutterStock (http://submit.shutterstock.com/?ref=12035) is where I do best. People and food seem to be the top sellers in microstock. I have good luck with animals, nature and transportation. Almost anything can sell as long as the quality is good. Have her check out Shutterstocks forums. istockphoto.com, BigStockPhoto (http://www.bigstockphoto.com/?refid=jIRjT7Hrv5) and fotolio (http://us.fotolia.com/partner/200399642) are a couple other sites.

Oh gosh ya'll thanks so much!! All very good info. If she had a website I'd tell her just to start selling them on there.
Beachbum....do you sell them with a neg release so they can do whatever they want once they purchase?
This is all very helpful. Thank you so much. I'm sure she'll appreciate any info you all can offer.
Maybe I can get her to send me an image to show you all.....for some feedback!
