I don't really wan't to put velcro crap on my new Flash for the LumniQuest softbox I bought a while ago. Is there a cleaner alternative? I've tried rubber bands, but they aren't strong enough.

I've got Velcro all over my 550 & 420 flashes (and Metz and Vivitar ...). I use the Velcro to hold fill cards or flags. Remember that the flash is a tool and while keeping it pretty is OK, it's better if it actually works right.

I have a Better Beamer which comes with a nice rubber band which I used to use to hold the Lumiquests, rather than applying velcro. It held them very well, but was a PITA.
So it didn't last long.
Now I agree wholeheartedly with DaveG.

I did the same as Scottes finally succumbing and attaching Velcro to my flash. It's now much easier to attach my Lumiquest Pocket Bouncer which means I use it more often. Think about it - how big an impact do you think Velcro will have on the resale value of your flash? Maybe $20 at the outside?

Tell em some huge fabricated story of how it travelled around the world and the velcro was some sacred practice ... Then add $20.

I have velcro on my 420Ex and 1 of my 550EX--not the second one however, since I don't have more than one softbox. I barely notice it to be truthful, and if I choose to use the Lumiquest or softbox, its much easier than with the cinchbelt (which I did have--just a pain for me).
