Hello!

What’s the general opinion/ etiquette for shooting pictures of people out and about in the streets etc..
Have people had problems with people getting upset by you taking pictures of them? Should I be asking permission before each shot (which kind of ruins the candid nature of the shot) Any tips on getting good candid shots with out a very long lens?
Is there any actual legal implications (in UK) (and no I’m not talking pervy peeping tom pictures! )

Also has any one had problems shooting buildings in these times of increased security... I was in the City of London yesterday taking pictures of the new Swiss Re building and the security people were not too happy and asked me to stop.

Thanks for your advise!

Scott Berger, you're either one brave sob, or one dumb one. Either way--nice shot.

I don't really know what is the appeal of taking pictures of people you don't know, unless they are extraordinarily weird, have wild clothing on, etc etc. Just getting pictures of random normal people on the street does not really appeal to me. I'd rather ask my friend to take some time out of his or her day so I can shoot some candids or whatever. But I think you should ask "do you mind if I shoot some photographs here for my collection" before you go around snapping, just to be safe.
