11x14 seems to be more popular around here than 10x13

the enlargement prices seem a little cheap too. I charge 3x cost for enlargements

Seems very cheap. Would you take naked photos of me for that? (only joking)

How much more should I go up? I don't want to over charge but I want to make a solid profit. Any advice would be great!

What hourly rate do you base your costs on and does it factor your equipment costs? Seems way too low, and I advise against including images on disk otherwise why would anyone buy prints off you?

I work in $AUS but check out my price list http://www.davidbrewer.com.au.

$AUS is about 87cUS.

I live in a middle/low income area since the paper mill laid off 4000 workers and here is what I get ......

A.1 pose....1-8x10, 2-5x7, 8 wallets---$190
B.2 pose ....1-8x10,2-5x7, 24 wallets----$250
C.2 pose....1-8x10,4-5x7,80 wallets----$320
D.3 pose ...1-8x10,2-5x7, 144 wallets....$368
E.2 pose...1-11x14,2-8x10,4-5x7,96 wallets...$390 (most popular package)
F.3 pose...1-16X20,1-11x14,2-8x10,4-5x7,104 wallets....$480

Per sheet ( which I sell a lot of....
4x6...$9.00
5x7...$12.00
8x10...$24.00
10x13...$33.00
11x14...$41.00
16x20....$85.00
20x24....$140.00

I have no set time limit on shoots, No maximum clothing change number, ect.... most shoots take about 1-2 hours at around 4-5 different locations. One thing I do different then a lot of people now is I don't give away images on cd/dvd. I offer online proofing and if they want it, they buy it. I will never give up rights or give full rez photos to clients....EVER! If I did that I would have to double my package prices to make up for lost revenue in extra prints. Then I would still be out on future orders on those sessions because they already have the photos to print themselves.

dont give images on CD The only thing I can add to the above is be careful who you give a CD to. Keep in mind that, if you sell a Cd of images to a non-pro who will make green, underexposed, crappy prints at the corner drugstore, not only will you lose the sales of those prints, but those will be your green crappy prints that will be shown to their friends & your potential future clients? ;)

Kristin, thanks I love compliments, I don't know where you're from but if you are in Australia the albums are handmade by a small bookbinding company in Melbourne. I can give you contact details if you need them.

Kristin, I've just viewed your beautiful photos of some amazing undersea creatures, and I'm very impressed. You must spend a lot of time waterlogged.

Everyone seems to say don't give a CD, but those photographs are going to end up being scanned and put on MySpace or whatever anyways, even if you don't. May as well give them some web-sized images on a CD, so it doesn't look like crap when they do it...
