Yeager/ thanks for the compliments that shot was with a Canon 500 f4.5
c0ntr0lz/ thanks for looking the head on shots are a bit more difficult than
than panning you have such a short window to get your photo.
your right it might be bit tight on the crop I didn't have a lot to
work with though.
Rick / thanks
DigitDan/ thanks for replying I took the photo with Canon 500 f4.5/ and a
10D
Woodman/ The shot was taken at the Mid Ohio Race Track around Mansfield a great place to spend an afternoon taking action shots, look them up on the web for upcomming events and directions
Here's another one taken the same day, same curve, same lens this time with a 1.4x TC

Thanks for looking, and I didn't have a press pass or any credentials, the track is set up very friendly for photographers, however there are some place's where I would liked to have shot from, that required photo passes.

You got some wonderful pictures.... I agree that the crops are little tight, but everything else looks perfect. I specially like the second picture where those hot exhault gas came out from the pipe. It tells me how hot is the race is.... cool 8)

Wow, I might have to take a trip sometime. I try to shoot the amature motorcycle races here but the local track is very not photographer friendly. With my 300mm zoom I can sometimes get decent pics coming out of one turn. There's a nice S that you can get decent shots from but as it's where everyone pits out at there's usually a large crowd preventing you from getting close enough for a good shot.
We don't get any pro races near here. Closest is Barber about 8 hours away so I may have to do some traveling to get good pics. Nice to know Mid Ohio is photo friendly, thanks for passing that info along.
