I just recieved a G2 (I dared to buy one despite all the negative threads) and now, I'm unhappy with it -too-...
1. The LCD has a pink "blob", it's just not one pixel but two or three in a blob, and a white one that's just one pixel.
2. The camera always captures that pink blob and white blob on pictures too, they're extremely visible on long exposures, like 1/30 s.
3. The LCD get's very hot, burning hot, after just some minute.
4. The LCD flickes crazily sometimes, switches from dark to light in an up-down fashion.
5. The autofocus lets go although I'm holding the shutter button down firmly halfway.
Anyone else experiencing this, or one of these problems? Do you think they're enough to get it replaced, or is it just me that's over-sensitive? :)

Since my only point and shoot digital camera was a Nikon coolpix 950 (before coming over from the dark side :) ) I have no experience with the G2 ( D-60 user) but I would return that bad-boy in a heart beat. Sounds like a defective camera to me.
and... from the threads I'm reading, the G2 has a lot of problems.
off course this in one persons humble opinion on the subject!

Thanks for the quick reply. I'd also like a D60 bit it's a liiittle too pricey for me... ;)
I talked with my dealer and the told me they'd send a thingy so that I can send the cam back to them. They also told me that when there were this many faults, it would probably be replaced. Hope so! :)

I wouldn't say the G2 has any more problems than any other camera, you just hear about it more, due to people seeking help.
Imagine the number of people out there that have bought the camera, compared to the number that have posted here. I am willing to bet that only 5 to 10 percent of the total number of owners know how to use the internet, and of those, only a few percent more have found this site. The ones who have no problem never seek out help here.
Also, if you notice, the majority of owners with problems have bought the camera from the grey market (less than 600 bucks and from a shady web site, and the manual is photo copied, and the menu items are in a forien language). This means the camera was probably bought before, returned due to defects, refurbished and sold as new at these sites.
Buy from reputable dealers!

Clean the lens, do a hot/dead pixel test and try again.

What is your shooting environment? It might just be the AE.

The button is a bit sensitive and takes some getting used to.

Did you buy from a reputable dealer? Have you got a warranty? If so, give it a chance, you've got time.
