A couple of real beauties Allen, nice and sharp. I can even see some bug initials carved in the tree. :)

Two very nice shots of this great woodpecker. Nice details and the textures in the tree bark are nice as well.

Well on the 600 degraded takes on a different meaning ;)

I have been dying to see and photograph a flicker. Maybe this year it will happen.

Yeah, I think that 2x really lowered the IQ....without it the bird might have just flown off my screen....LOL

Yowie! Sweet pics! love the first one - peek-a-boo!? heh
Very nice detail and fantastic exposure on both shots!

I've seen a few of these guys throughout the summer months, but they're rather skittish and tend to take off at the slightest unknown sound or movement, so it's nice to see the pics you've posted as it seems they're just an arm-length away.

Yes but my batteries were iffy and I'm not sure if the flash went full power here.
