For those who use lightstands on location, what do you use to carry them?
I've been super pleased with my pelican 1510 for my cameras and thought that their wheeled rifle cases would fit the purpose. Any thoughts?
Anyone else using something different is most welcome to chime in.

Not sure how big your stand is, but I ball-bungee gear onto my Manfrotto 3373, put a strap on the stand with some snap clips, and throw it all over my shoulder.

I have two light stands and a few brollys etc and I got a carry case from Calumet to carry it all in. Seems to work fine plus keep any rain out.

I use a soft sided golf case. Less weight to deal with. The hard sided case would be more useful if you have to fly to a location, but mine simply have to go in the back of the car!

Thanks for all of the ideas.
Tried the golf case once but it the case wasn't durable enough. Probably not going to explore the case with the lowest price this time.

I have a plain old sony tripod bad. I can fit light stand, smaller tripod, and monopod in there.

For my 39" light stands (bogen 3361 with adapter screwed on) I have tried the following two. I am not happy with them and I am thinking about getting a duffle bag. I use Lightware stand socks to keep the stands from hitting each other and I think in a duffle bag that would be fine also

I was hunting for a bag a couple weeks ago to carry light stands and umbrellas and hit on the idea of those bags that folding camping chairs come in - you know, the ones with the beer can holder right in the arm. Anyway, Gander Mountain had just the thing. $10.00 for the bag and the chair so now the bag holds my light stands and the chair holds my beer can in the back yard. The quality of the bag isn't really great, but it'll last a while.

This looks good:

Never mind it is 25" not 14" like it was first listed. They have updated the site.

Last year in January, I bought one of the Rubbermaid wrapping paper storage units. It's much too cumbersome for what I'd like to do. Requiring two hands to carry it. Good for longterm storage, not for portability.
I like the idea of the camping chair bag. Slip the shoulder strap around the neck and have both hands free to hold refreshments.
Thanks!

The Pelican goes for $180+, I'd like to use the money elsewhere.

I use a little soft sided bag for my stands I picked up from Calumet for about 30 bucks. Can't find it on their web site at the moment, but it is a nice simple bag that serves my purpose well.
