Peacock - beginner effort

Hi folks,

This is one of the first photos I took with my new 400D a couple of months ago. The peacock was pretty tame, so getting close was no problem.

This is just a resize of the original - no cropping.

Any suggestions on how I could have improved the photo are welcome, be it composition, post processing, whatever.

its a good shot....i would try to get the entire bird in frame.... the bg its a little bright... but other than that, very nice... hope to see the next effort.!!

I would have sat down to get on the birds level, and either used Fill Flash, better, or set some positive exposure compensation, second choice, to lighten up the shaded side of the bird. :)
