I currently have a 10D and 95% of the time, I am happy with the .jpg format. Once in a while, I wish that I had used RAW, but the hassle in processing everything in RAW keeps me away from that.

On the MkII, can you save to the CF as RAW and to the SD (or whatever the 2nd format is) as jpg? That way, I would have the ease of use on the .jpgs but the ability to extract a RAW if needed.

You can save both RAW and JPG symultaieously , unfortunatly not split between the two cards, it is both files to either one card or the other.

I find that if I use camera settings as if I were shooting jpeg my raw files need very little processing and I still have the benefits of raw if necessary.

This can SUPPOSEDLY be done with the 10D as well, but when I look on the card, there is no jpeg, only RAW and some little informaion file (.thp or something like that). Does anyone know how to save both RAW and JPG simultaieously on a 10D?

True, but they STILL have to be processed through the decoder to even get a jpeg. When I am shooting 250+ shots on a 2g microdrive, that is a lot of processing time just to start playing.

With the 10D/Drebel the JPEG is always embedded in the RAW file. You cannot save them separately in camera.

With 1D series cameras you can shoot RAW only, or with a JPEG attachment. With the JPEG attachment you get two files, the RAW and JPEG file. With the MKII (can't attest to the others in the 1D family) when shooting RAW you also get a 1/3 size JPEG that is embedded in the RAW file. You can extract it at anytime like extracting the JPEG out of a 10D RAW file.
